How we test
Every number on AmpVerdict comes from a measurement we took, a bill we read, or data a reader shared with us. Here is exactly how.
The instruments
- Plug-in power meter (Kill A Watt) for device draw and energy delivered.
- Clamp meter and multimeter for current and startup surge on fridges and pumps.
- Whole-panel energy monitor (Emporia Vue) for real household consumption graphs.
- Temperature probe, because battery chemistry behaves differently in the cold.
What every review must include
- Real usable capacity (Wh delivered) versus the rated number on the box.
- Measured runtime on named loads, single device first, then a realistic backup mix.
- Startup surge behaviour with compressors and pumps.
- Charge efficiency, fan noise, idle drain and cold-weather results.
- Our own photos and video of each test.
How we make money
Some links are affiliate links and some pages send quote requests to installers. That revenue never changes a measured result. We say plainly what we tested and what we only cite.
