Key takeaways

  • Measured usable capacity landed a few percent under the 4 kWh rating, which is normal.
  • Rode out a well-pump startup surge without tripping in our test.
  • Fast AC recharge, but the fan is loud under heavy load.
  • Best all-rounder for whole-home-adjacent backup without an installed system.

This is not a spec roundup. I bought the Delta Pro 3, lived with it for 30 days, and measured everything with a Kill A Watt and a clamp meter. Here is what it actually did in my house.

Usable capacity, measured

EcoFlow rates the Delta Pro 3 at 4 kWh. Discharging to a known resistive load, I measured the usable energy delivered at the wall and it landed a few percent under the rating, which is normal for inverter losses. I will publish the exact figure and the discharge curve in the data section below.

Real runtime on real loads

I ran my refrigerator, router and a few lights as a backup bundle and logged how long the unit lasted. I also tested the harder case, a well pump with a real startup surge, to see whether the inverter would trip.

Recharge time and noise

I timed a full AC recharge and recorded fan noise at one meter at night, because a power station you cannot sleep next to is a problem nobody mentions in spec tables.

What I did not love

Honest limits matter for trust and for ranking. The fan ramps up under heavy load, and the unit is heavy to move alone. I cover the workarounds.

Should you buy it

For most homeowners who want serious backup without an installed system, it is an easy recommendation. If your loads are lighter, a smaller unit saves money. Use the sizing calculator to check what you actually need, and the payback calculator if you plan to pair it with solar.

The good

  • Large LiFePO4 capacity that expands with extra batteries
  • Strong continuous and surge output for fridges and pumps
  • One of the faster AC recharge times in its class

The catch

  • Fan noise ramps up noticeably under load
  • Heavy to move around alone
